Liver kinase B1 (LKB1), also known as serine/threo-nine kinase 11 (STK11), is a tumor suppressor that is inactivated in Peutz-Jeghers familial cancer syndrome. LKB1 phosphorylates and activates AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), which negatively regulates cancer cell proliferation and metabolism.
