Measure the product, not the question.

Noodle separates identifier-free service counters from optional audience analytics. Scientific queries and identifiers do not belong in either layer.

Your choice

Noodle always counts a closed set of identifier-free feature events needed to understand service operation. Google Analytics remains off until you choose “Allow analytics”. Choosing “Necessary only” prevents Noodle from loading Google Analytics. Your choice is stored in this browser. Clearing Noodle site data removes the stored choice and shows the consent prompt again.

What is measured

For all visits, Noodle counts coarse page families, search outcomes and speed buckets, result-count buckets, broad click categories, filters, pagination and graph actions. These counters contain no cookie or durable browser identity and cannot count unique people. With consent, Google Analytics additionally supplies aggregate active-user, new-user, session, engagement and event estimates.

What is never sent as an analytics event field

Noodle does not send search text, PMID, PMCID, DOI, gene, variant, phenotype or OMIM identifiers, publication titles, author names, raw dynamic paths, IP addresses, referrers, user agents or browser fingerprints as product-event fields.

Limits of the numbers

First-party totals count interactions, not unique visitors. Google Analytics active users are consented browser or device estimates, not verified natural persons. People who decline Google Analytics are excluded from its audience estimates, one person may use several devices, and several people may share one device. The two populations are reported separately.
