1,3-Butadiene has been detected in urban air, gasoline vapors, and cigarette smoke. It has been estimated that 65,000 workers are exposed to this chemical in occupational settings in the United States. Lymphomas, lung, and liver tumors were induced in female and male C57BL/6 X C3H F1 (hereafter called B6C3F1) mice by inhalation of 6.25 to 625 ppm 1,3-butadiene for 1 to 2 years.
