<h4>ABSTRACT</h4> Transcriptional pauses mediate regulation of RNA biogenesis. DNA-encoded pause signals trigger elemental pausing by stabilizing a half-translocated (RNA-not-DNA) state and by promoting RNAP swiveling that other factors can enhance.
