BACKGROUND: Nitric oxide (NO)-dependent vasodilation is impaired in middle cerebral arteries (MCAs) from Dahl salt-sensitive (SS) rats that are fed normal salt (NS) diet, due to low plasma renin activity and chronic exposure to low plasma angiotensin II (ANG II) levels.
