Hemorrhagic shock causes myocardial contractile depression. Although this myocardial disorder is associated with increased expression of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), the role of TNF-alpha as a myocardial depressant factor in hemorrhagic shock remains to be determined.
