Sphingolipids are important membrane lipid components of eukaryotic cells. In Candida albicans , chromosome 1 trisomy not only overcame the block of sphingolipid biosynthesis caused by aureobasidin A, but also altered tolerance to three of the four major classes of antifungal drugs.
