The microsomal triglyceride transfer protein (MTP) catalyzes the transfer of triglyceride, cholesteryl ester, and phosphatidylcholine between phospholipid surfaces. The 97-kD subunit imparts lipid transfer activity and thus plays a role in the assembly of apolipoprotein B (apoB)-containing lipoproteins.
