Spontaneous mutations and neocarzinostatin-induced mutations were investigated in the hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (hprt) gene in exponentially growing Chinese hamster ovary cells. Neocarzinostatin (NCS) treatment caused an 4.5-fold increase in mutation frequency.
