Sister chromatid cohesion (SCC) is essential for the maintenance of genome integrity. The establishment of SCC is coupled to DNA replication, and this is achieved in budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae by a mechanism that is dependent on the interaction between Eco1 acetyltransferase and PCNA in the DNA replication complex.
