Blockade of colony-stimulating factor-1 receptor (CSF-1R) enables the therapeutic targeting of tumor-associated macrophages (TAM) in cancer patients. Various CSF-1R inhibitors, mAbs, and tyrosine kinase inhibitors are currently evaluated in early clinical trials.
