Due to its high early bactericidal activity, isoniazid (INH) plays an essential role in tuberculosis treatment. Genetic polymorphisms of N-acetyltransferase type 2 (NAT2) cause a trimodal distribution of INH pharmacokinetics in slow, intermediate, and fast acetylators.
