BACKGROUND: Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is a target of molecular therapeutics for colorectal cancer. However, mutation of Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog (KRAS) gene at codons 12 and 13 attenuates the therapeutic effect of anti-EGFR therapies.
