BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The zeta-1 family isoform of GST biotransforms the investigational drug dichloroacetate (DCA) and certain other halogenated carboxylic acids. Haplotype variability in GSTZ1 influences the kinetics and, possibly, the toxicity of DCA.
