OBJECTIVES: The zeta-class glutathione transferase GSTZ1-1 catalyses the glutathione-dependent isomerization of maleylacetoacetate to fumarylacetoacetate in the tyrosine catabolic pathway and the biotransformation of alpha-halo acids, including dichloroacetic acid (DCA).
