The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae has been used as a model system to explore whether the clinical combination of the antitumour agent BCNU (1,3-bis(2-chloroethyl)-1-nitrosourea) with DNA-repair inhibitors would affect the drug's mutagenic or recombinogenic potential.
