Ab class switching occurs by an intrachromosomal recombination and requires generation of double-strand breaks (DSBs) in Ig switch (S) regions. Activation-induced cytidine deaminase (AID) converts cytosines in S regions to uracils, which are excised by uracil DNA glycosylase (UNG).
