In Plasmodium vivax, pyrimethamine resistance is associated with amino acid substitutions Ser117Asn and Ser58Arg in dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR), which correspond to Ser108Asn and Cys59Arg in the Plasmodium falciparum homolog, respectively.
