Lysosomal biogenesis depends on proper transport of lysosomal enzymes by the cation-dependent mannose 6-phosphate receptor (CD-MPR) from the trans-Golgi network (TGN) to endosomes. Trafficking of the CDMPR is mediated by sorting signals in its cytoplasmic tail.
