Phosphatidylinositol transfer proteins (PITPs) regulate the interface between lipid metabolism and cellular functions. We now report that ablation of PITP alpha function leads to aponecrotic spinocerebellar disease, hypoglycemia, and intestinal and hepatic steatosis in mice.
