Ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis of cell cycle regulators is a major element of the cell cycle control. The anaphase-promoting complex (APC/C) is a large multisubunit ubiquitin-protein ligase required for the ubiquitination and degradation of G1 and mitotic checkpoint regulators.
