The induction of a humoral response depends upon efficient cross-linking by antigen of surface immunoglobulin on primary B lymphocytes. We demonstrate here the presence of a glycosylphosphatidylinositol-linked isoform of membrane IgD (mIgD) receptors on murine resting B cells.
