The frequencies and spectra of N-methyl-N-nitrosourea (MNU)-induced in vivo somatic mutations were determined in rpsL (strA) transgenic mice. The wild-type rpsL gene, which exhibits a streptomycin-sensitive (Sm(S)) phenotype, was used as the rescue marker gene.
