AIMS: Interindividual differences in the pharmacokinetics of venlafaxine, a new antidepressant, were shown during early clinical trials in Japan. Venlafaxine is metabolized mainly by CYP2D6 to an active metabolite, O-desmethylvenlafaxine (ODV).
