The apoptosis of proximal tubule epithelial cells (PTECs) is a critical event of acute kidney injury (AKI). Tetratricopeptide repeat domain 36 (TTC36) with three tetratricopeptide repeats is evolutionarily conserved across mammals, which functions as a chaperone for heat shock protein 70.
