Medulloblastoma is a childhood brain tumor arising from the developing cerebellum. In Sonic Hedgehog (SHH)-subgroup medulloblastoma, aberrant activation of SHH signaling causes increased proliferation of granule neuron progenitors (GNPs) and predisposes these cells to tumorigenesis.
