<h4>ABSTRACT</h4> <h4>Background</h4> Atherosclerosis is the primary underlying cause of coronary artery disease (CAD). Leiomodin1 is a vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC)-restricted CAD risk gene whose role in coronary artery pathophysiology is unknown.
