Mouse strains congenic for individual quantitative trait loci (QTLs) conferring hypnotic sensitivity to ethanol were constructed by backcrossing genotypically selected ILS x ISS N2 individuals to either inbred Long Sleep (ILS) or inbred Short Sleep (ISS) mice.
