Inheritance of the apolipoprotein E epsilon 4 allele is a risk factor for Alzheimer's disease (AD). A recent report studying Japanese patients suggested that a polymorphism of a trinucleotide repeat in the 5' untranslated region of an apolipoprotein E receptor, the very-low-density lipoprotein receptor, is genetically associated with AD, with overrepresentation of the allele containing five copies of the repeat....
