G-protein coupled inwardly rectifying potassium (GIRK) channels are key players in inhibitory neurotransmission in heart and brain. We conducted molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the effect of a selectivity filter (SF) mutation, G154S, on GIRK2 structure and function.
