The Nicotine Metabolite Ratio (NMR; 3-hydroxycotinine/cotinine), a highly heritable index of nicotine metabolic inactivation by the CYP2A6 enzyme, is associated with numerous smoking behaviors and diseases, as well as unique cessation outcomes.
