OBJECTIVE: Overactivity of dopaminergic neurotransmission is a putative mechanism of tardive dyskinesia (TD). Dopamine beta-hydroxylase (DBH) is a key enzyme in the conversion of dopamine to norepinephrine, and plasma DBH activity is altered in TD patients.
