OBJECTIVE: Several studies have suggested that the metabolism of alcohol is modulated by the polymorphisms in genes encoding ethanol-metabolizing enzymes, including alcohol dehydrogenase 1C, ADH1C, and cytochrome P450-dependent monooxygenase, CYP2E1.
