Intracellular cAMP is compartmentalized to near membrane domains in endothelium, where it strengthens endothelial cell barrier function. Phosphodiesterase 4D4 (PDE4D4) interacts with the spectrin membrane skeleton and prevents cAMP from accessing microtubules.
