OBJECTIVE: To analyze the mutation and abnormal expression of the FHIT gene in human hypopharyngeal carcinoma. METHOD: Matched normal and cancerous tissues from 24 patients with hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma were obtained immediately after surgery.
