Gene targeting by triplex-forming oligonucleotides (TFOs) has proven useful for gene modulation in vivo. Photoreactive molecules have been conjugated to TFOs to direct sequence-specific damage in double-stranded DNA. However, the photoproducts are often repaired efficiently in cells.
