Recent studies of prokaryotic ribosomes have dramatically increased our knowledge of ribosomal RNA (rRNA) structure, functional centers, and their interactions with antibiotics. However, much less is known about how rRNA function differs between prokaryotic and eukaryotic ribosomes.
