We have isolated two recessive, mutually complementary NRK cell mutants that are refractory to transformation by epidermal growth factor (EGF) and transforming growth factor-beta. Both mutants are defective in a signal transduction cascade shared by EGF and platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF).
