Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and small lymphocytic lymphomas (SLL) generally are malignancies of CD5 B cells. Immunophenotypic and clinicopathologic data, however, are required to distinguish subtypes that apparently have a different cytogenesis than that of conventional CLL or SLL.
