Mature poly(A) RNA transcripts are exported from the nucleus in complex with heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). Nab2p is an essential Saccharomyces cerevisiae hnRNP protein that interacts with poly(A) RNA and shuttles between the nucleus and cytoplasm.
