BACKGROUND: A conventional cofilin, cofilin-1 in Dictyostelium discoideum plays significant roles in cell proliferation, phagocytosis, chemotactic movement and macropinocytosis. RESULTS: We identified a new member of the cofilin family, named cofilin-2 in D. discoideum.
