Cdc25 phosphatases activate cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks) by dephosphorylating critical phospho-tyrosine and phospho-threonine residues on these proteins. Several types of studies indicate that Cdc25s can enhance cell proliferation and oncogenesis.
