KEAP1 promotes the ubiquitin-dependent degradation of NRF2 by assembling into a CUL3-dependent ubiquitin ligase complex. Oxidative and electrophilic stress inhibit KEAP1 allowing NRF2 to accumulate for transactivation of stress response genes.
