<h4>ABSTRACT</h4> Loss-of-function mutations of the PINK1 kinase cause familial early-onset Parkinson’s disease (PD). PINK1 is activated upon mitochondrial damage to phosphorylate Ubiquitin and Parkin to trigger removal of damaged mitochondria by autophagy (mitophagy).
