We describe mutations in the hepatitis B virus (HBV) polymerase gene in viruses which reactivated in two patients during therapy with -2'-deoxy-3'-thiacytidine, or lamivudine (3TC), and following orthotopic liver transplantation for chronic hepatitis B.
