RNA was specifically extracted from tumor and peritumor tissue of a hepatitis C virus (HCV)-associated hepatocellular carcinoma after microdissection. RT-PCR products of the HCV 5'-noncoding (NC), core and nonstructural (NS)-5 gene were examined.
