A vinblastine-resistant Leishmania amazonensis cell line (RV100) which exhibits cross-resistance to the unrelated drug adriamycin, and thus is considered to be multidrug resistant (MDR), was isolated after stepwise selection with increasing concentrations of vinblastine.
