Integrin-mediated cell-matrix adhesions regulate communication between cells and the extracellular matrix. In matrix-secreting cells, fibrillar adhesions (FBs) containing high levels of α5β1 integrins and the tensin3 adaptor protein are essential for fibronectin (FN) fibrillogenesis.
