BACKGROUND: Co-trimoxazole is a leading global cause of severe cutaneous adverse drug reactions (SCAR) including Stevens-Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis (SJS/TEN) and drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS).
