Variants in the gene encoding human cytochrome c (CYCS) cause mild autosomal dominant thrombocytopenia. Despite high sequence conservation between mouse and human cytochrome c, this phenotype is not recapitulated in mice for the sole mutant (G41S) that has been investigated.
